About the Auction

Auction Overview

Each year, our auctions contribute approximately 1/3 of the overall money raised to support HRC. Without the regular support and donations from so many San Francisco-based companies and organizations, our continued success in the Annual Auction would not be as high as it is now.

We have two auctions at each annual Gala. A Live Auction with our most valuable and highly sought after donations will occur during the dinner and a Silent Auction that occurs approximately two hours before seating begins at the host location.

This year, we are excited to announce the new BidPal technology for the Gala. Attendees will be able to peruse the full ballroom of over 350+ high-quality travel, leisure, on-the-town, home goods, and services. Alternatively, dinner guests can peruse photographs and bid directly from the hand-held iPod that they will be issued at check-in. This revolutionizes how you can bid on the items in which you are most interested. No longer do you have to go back to the auction room over and over to see if you've been out-bid. Simply monitor the bids on your favorite items from the comfort of your dinner table while enjoying the fantastic show!

Donations

The San Francisco Bay Area HRC Gala Dinner and Auction is an exciting opportunity for Gala guests to purchase high-quality merchandise and services from a variety of businesses and organizations that are supportive of equality.

For the 2014 Gala Silent Auction, generous HRC supporters in the Bay Area donated more than $200,000 in fantastic values, including: incredible wines, gift certificates, original artwork, home furnishings, professional services, dining and entertainment, retail merchandise, hotel stays, airline tickets, and high-quality travel packages.  Guests will have the opportunity to bid on nearly 300 different items -- there truly is something for everyone!

The exciting (and always entertaining) Live Auction is one of the most vibrant components of the Gala.  Bidders compete for luxury travel packages, exclusive Wine Country getaways, private dinners with a celebrity chef, and more!

Past HRC Gala Live Auction packages have included: cruises from Olivia, Cunard and RSVP; a private wine blending seminar, including a half-barrel of that special wine and dinner in the Proprietor's home from Dutcher Crossing Winery, a weekend at Boon Hotel and Spa for 28 people with a private wine-pairing dinner at Big Bottom Market; and a private dinner from Traci Des Jardins of Jardinere restaurant in the Wine Library of Hanzell Vineyards.

You can be sure that we will showcase your donation in the best possible fashion. For high-value donations, we can make special arrangements to shine an even brighter spotlight on your business.

Donate to the Auction

If you are interested in donating merchandise or services, please let us know by completing the information sfhrcgala.org Web site, and on the SF Bay Area HRC program book. All guests receive a copy of the program book.

Silent Auction:  The Silent Auction is selective in the products we display, and only offer 350 items in the auction each year. Because of the sheer size and scope of our auction, we kindly request that each donation have a minimum retail value of $100; however, we will accept all donations and group items together in order to create wonderful packages.

Live Auction:  The Live Auction is the hightest profile exposure for your business at the HRC Gala Dinner. Items donated with a market value of greater than $7,500 will be guaranteed a spot in the Live Auction. The 800+ attendees will be focused on your donation as it is auctioned live on stage.
